Look back on this roundWhat it holds, its lamps and gems, and its inner path
The temples the saints sang, the dance at Chidambaram, the festivals, and the people who keep the songs and the teaching alive.
The saints walked from shrine to shrine, and the shrines they sang are still standing: two hundred and seventy-six of them, with the five temples of the elements and the jyotirlingas beyond the Tamil country. This round walks among those places, stops at Chidambaram to read the dance of Nataraja, keeps the festivals of the year, listens to the oduvars who still sing the hymns in their panns, and visits the monasteries that kept the teaching.
